Description
Guimauve “Effondrement” LP
The debut full-length from this Parisian hardcore band, twelve tracks that reveal a subtle progression from the previous two 7″ – staying true to their thumping hardcore punk aggression while also embracing elements of dark, post-punk atmosphere, especially so on the pounding, slower paced tracks. Ramping-up the desperation and foreboding sense of menace ten fold. You know the score with french punk: you never, ever get a load of hype and fanfare. Zero bullshit. Instead, music of integrity, passion and high levels of intensity. This is a perfect example. Lyrics are all in french (I’m one of those dumbo, monoglot brits. Embarrassed? You bet), but I betcha, these are a collection of songs fuelled by righteous defiance and burning rage. And, in the spirit of punk community and collaboration, this LP is a co-release between a dozen different record labels.
