Giallo “Tenebrarum” LP
The debut album these from these Minneapolis slammers. Harsh, fast, temper tantrum explosions of hardcore punk, expulsing the inner demons as public entertainment. I see on discogs their earlier lathe cut 7″/cassette tape of 2022 (reissued on normal 7″ format too) has garnered a fair bit of attention. For me, Giallo remain something of a mysterious bunch, but make no doubts, this is 100% in keeping with recent Convulse output – by no means an original style these days, but, by gumbo, this lot truly know how to nail it right side up, with absolute precision. And then towards the end, just to keep us on our toes, after some unusually creepy soundscapes they blast into an epic grand finale of slowed-down noise rock. Comes with a high-quality 16-page booklet designed by Cain Cox (Spy etc.). The Italian slasher///horror movie themes help this release stand-out even more than it already needed to.
