G.O.O.N. – “God’s Only Option Now” LP
Fast punk mayhem from a band based in Denver, Colorado who have been active since 2015. Finally unleashing a full-length 12″ onto the world in late 2024, it’s a hybrid of both fresh contemporary hardcore and timeless old school hardcore, and although it wouldn’t want to pin it down too precisely, their sound definitely fits with Convulse Records, in fact, it’s hard to imagine it being on any other label. But things do get further confused by the inclusion of an extra jammed-out cover-version of the Pink Fairies’ classic, “Do It!”. If the flailing fury of Void and United Mutation mixed with (even older) throbbing psyche vibes by being chucked in a modern Convulse blender sounds interesting to you then you have just been gifted with a happy bonus ending to 2024.
