Drugs, Jimi Hendrix, Motown, Detroit garage rock, gospel, Sun Ra, more drugs, sex, humour, social commentary and just about anything else… fish and chips, even… it’s hard to know where to begin with Funkadelic… Cosmic Slop was the collective’s fifth studio album, released by Westbound in 1973. I actually think it’s their best, featuring some of George Clinton’s strongest song writing, backed by musicians completely in sink, and in step, with the crazed genius of their wild acid-rock invention.
