Frodus – “And We Washed Our Weapons in the Sea” LP
Northern Virginian trio Frodus were primary players in the mid-90s mass of fired-up hotheads who followed in the wake of Fugazi, Shellac, Drive Like Jehu etc. A joyful combination of technical tightness (I guess it’s what you call math rock. Frodus refered to themelves as ‘mech-core’) performed with the volume and energy of the young-enough-to still-be-hardcore-punks (their drummer also served in Battery and Combatwoundedveteran). Weapons is their final album, recorded in the summer of 1999 with Brian McTernan at Salad Days Studio, and released in 2001 by Fueled By Ramen. Lovitt Records has reissued Weapons on vinyl, remastered, with expanded packaging, including original lyric sheets/journal entries and candid photos. This 2023 edition of the record has been pressed on red vinyl.
