Dope Body – “Natural History” LP
The second album by the Maryland four-piece, and their first for Drag City Records, who released it back in 2012. This still sounds completely modern. An insane blend of so many different styles and sounds, from hardcore punk to alternative rock to sludge metal to noise rock. Natural History is made especially distinct by the inclusion of an almost Andrew WK spirit of fun and upbeat, lets-paaartay-attitude…. But, a very messy party. It might get ugly towards 5am… Personally, one of my favourite albums of the past decade. Greatly helped by the production skills of J Robbins.
