Description
Dime self-titled 12″ EP
Originally Hailing from Miami, Florida, this post hardcore band’s debut 12″ is surprisingly accomplished. A strong take on the introspective, emtionally intense style made popular by Fiddlehead and Basement, and that you can trace backwards in time to Title Fight, Hot Water Music, and then Jawbreaker too. But levels of explosive power are ramped-up a little more here, and delivered to good effect – that drummer is proper going for it (splintered sticks must have littered the studio floor), and the harder edge adds more catharsis, and posits the overall sound closer to hardcore punk, more than, say, indie rock. By no means is this gentle; at the same time, not too punishing on the ears, either. Well done, to ’em.
