Description
Absolut / Destruct “Deafen and Disarm E.P.” split 7″
The first new tracks from Canada’s Absolut in what, seven years? maybe longer… finally back with a savage barrage of multi-layered, metal-edged, raw-punk chaos. At any given moment it sounds like there are at least two very different songs fighting to gain domination on these three tracks – and I completely fail to understand and explain why or why that weird dynamic makes it sound so damn fukkin’ great.
We last heard Richmond, Virginia’s Destruct in 2024 on their split with LiFE. No great changes here – the same stampeding rush of top-tier, D-beat powered, maximo-thrash in the spirit of Doom and Anti-Cimex.
Sugi provides the artwork, which rounds off a perfectly formed punk record, destined to become a highlight of 2026.
“The singular shared message from both bands is simple: DEAFEN AND DISARM. We look forward to a day that marks an end to Western imperialism, interventionism, and hegemony.”
