Crass – “Christ The Album” Double LP Box Set

The fourth album by Crass, released in 1982. A boxed set double-vinyl LP package, including one disk of new studio material and another, entitled Well Forked.. But Not Dead, of a live recording of their June 1981 gig at the 100 Club in London along with other studio tracks, demos and tape fragments. The box also includes a book, A Series Of Shock Slogans and Mindless Token Tantrums (which features Penny Rimbaud’s essay “The Last of the Hippies”, telling the story of the suspicious death of his friend Wally Hope) and a large size poster painted by Gee Vaucher. As with other albums in the “as it was in the beginning” series of Crass reissues, the music has been remastered at Abbey Road Studios and all the packaging has been reprinted and manufactured true to the original. Apparently, 1980’s school teachers throughout the land where utterly baffled when their glue-sniffing misfit troublemakers started qouting 19th century Russian anarchists in the classroom. I’d like to think that can happen again for a new generation. Hopefully minus the glue, tho.
