Converge “Hum Of Hurt” LP
The band’s twelfth album and second release of 2026, following close on the heels of Love Is Not Enough. Should they have made both album as one double LP? Trust in Converge, they know what they are doing, they’ve been at it for thirty five years, afterall. Hum of Hurt is ten tracks of instantly recognisable Converge. If, for some unfathomable reason, you had not listened to one of their albums since the late 90s you would still know it was the very same band – with the same tightly orchestrated sonic violence repeatedly socking it to you with ferocious precision. Only, much expanded. Less metal here than on a lot of their previous albums, and the ratio of clean vocals over screams has increased. By first appearance maybe not their best sleeve art – but I’ve warmed to the front cover visuals since discovering that the represented sound waves are the unexplained sonic hum that afflicts 2% of the world’s population.
