For their seventh album Converge allowed their guitarist (and studio wizard), Kurt Ballou, to approach the recording with a puritanical simplicity – no needless overdubs, artificial distortion or technical trickery – just straight-up metallic savagery. Live, loud and mind-blowingly intense. Perfect for migraines (either inducing them, or curing them – I’m not sure which. Both, perhaps).
