The 25th anniversary reissue of the second album, originally released by Hydra Head Records in 2000, by the Massachusetts metalcore pioneers. Marking a significant shift in their musical direction – gone, sadly, was the Slayer-esque brutality of Until Your Heart Stops (one of the best albums of the 1990s) – Jupiter saw the band embark on a new post-hardcore space odyssey, leaning heavily towards the indie rock of Radiohead and a grandiose version of alt rock that, to be fair to them, was way ahead of its time. Kind of hard to stomach in the year of its release – back then, sounding even vaguely like Muse was deeply uncool – but, in light of the bands such as Mars Volta and Oceansize that appeared in the immediate years that followed Jupiter, it has become pretty clear how important this album was in terms of originality and influence.
