The debut mini-album from this Sheffield and Liverpool, straight-edge hardcore band. Cannonball – as apt a band name as you could wish for – tear, smash and bounce through their eight tracks in just a little over ten minutes, so, no faffin’ around, everything is fired-out with precise musicianship and the exact combination of hooks, muscle-power, and lyrical righteousness that this style of hardcore requires. Ballistic detonations exploding left right and center. The UK (and to a large extent Europe, too) has a chequered history when it comes to straight edge hardcore, scoring, on the whole, way more misses than hits – I don’t like to get too caught-up in geographical regions, or nationality, but, the US has always owned sole dominance of the youth crew, posi-hardcore, sXe genre’s of hardcore. Are Cannonball here to help correct this global imbalance? Put it this way, I’d struggle to think of another UK band who have managed to hit the bar this high in a long time…. if ever! And hey, released by long-running, top-quality, Pennsylvania-based label, Youngblood – that alone is no small feat for a Euro sXe band. This is the opaque yellow vinyl version, exclusive to Rev Records and limited to 200 copies.
