Another barrage of sonic brutality from this increasingly prolific industrial-strength hardcore band from Richmond Virginia. Six new songs, (back on Triple B Records once again), hot on the tail of their It’s Inside You album released by Relapse earlier in 2024. From the off, Candy were a band that had well and truly figured-out their own sound, (plus distinct record sleeve visuals), and this mini album does not stray from the cast iron template. Essentially a hardcore punk record with metallic riffing, shifting gears from pummeling speed to crushing slowness; but with added thrills ‘n frills, incorporating the occasional industrial/electro trickery when appropriate. Expertly produced and engineered by Converge’s Kurt Ballou, who, as usual, does a smashing job behind the desk.
