Boston hardcore band follow up their 2021 debut album (Chaos Streaks) with a second full-length.
Containing thirteen tracks of fast, thrashing, hate-filled, bad arse aggression. Veering a little bit away from the street thuggery of the debut, leaning more towards thrash-metal (in the guitars especially), with evil overtones on the vocals. But essentially, from the core outwards, C4 are still a modern take on an old school formula – weirdly, I found myself thinking of SFA’s New Morality, Yuppiecide, too – that is mean, vicious, and intentionally funny (surely it’s intentional, right?).
Good to see full cock and balls on the sleeve art. Seriously. Graphics of nude figures with absent genitals have been depicted on far too many punk-metal sleeves over the decades. It was chickenshit prudish and downright weird. The years of denial are over and ya finally get proud, fully erect wangers on front cover display. Now that’s better, nature’s glory, where it belongs.
