The Brood – “For The Dark” LP
Hardcore punk from Philadelphia, USA, featuring former/current members of Lost Cause, Witch Hunt, Endless Nightmare, Caustic Christ, Mischief Brew, The Pist and The Dissidents. Taking 1980’s hardcore as the cue and straight in you’ve got Siege and Heresy… further influences include Poison Idea, Die Kreuzen, Christ On Parade, The Stalin, and Totalitar. But with the dual male/female vocals, you definitely have no cookie-cutter formula here. The Brood started out in 2011, “four maladjusted humans who love playing loud angry music in dilapidated locales – because that is what punks do”. This twelve song debut album follows-up two previous cassette EPs and the Defective 7″ of 2014. Since 2018, a second guitar joined their ranks, bolstering their sound as a blazing five-piece juggernaut.
