The Bouncing Souls – “The Good, The Bad, And The Argyle.” LP
The debut LP, originally issued in 1994. The title is a play on the fact that it’s a compilation of two previously released 7″s (Neurotic and Argyle) and some interesting other bits. An essential building block for their ‘career’ because their unique style hooky, high-octane punk rock is first evident here. From a time awash with cartoon pop punk, dished-out by the likes of Dr Strange, Hopeless and Fat Wreck, The Bouncing Souls stood out as a band who could rip through their version of melodic punk (in the tradition of Social Distortion, Battalion Of Saints, Adrenalin OD and D.I.) with extra wit and energetic thumpiness. I still rate this album.
