Blind Eye “Mistrust Your Nation” LP
The second album by the Nottingham hardcore-punk band – it’s a perfect balance of modern ideas and old styles, performed by punk veterans whose trail of musical devastation reaches way, way back into the past. List them all? ‘ere are some ‘um: Endless Grinning Skulls, Army Of Flying Robots, Dead In The Woods, Heresy, Wolves Of Greece… Angry, heavy, fast, and almost psychedelic at times – in that dense, churning way favoured by certain noise-punks of recent years – this new Blind Eye recording is, as always, held together by some insanely good drumming; plus the confrontational vocals of Anmarie Spaziano – intense and screamy at times (a la Maha Shami of Nø Man or Stephanie Brooks of Stress Positions), but eager to drop in a sung melody whenever she gets the chance (not dissimilar to Shawna Potter of War On Women, or Christina Michelle of Gouge Away). Ten tracks (on 45 rpm – for extra sonic heft) and recorded at the tail end of 2025 by Boulty at Stuck On A Name Studios.
