Bad Brains – self-titled LP (red vinyl)
The holy grail of American hardcore punk, originally released back in 1982 as a cassette-only release on ROIR (Reachout International Records). After being banned from all the major clubs in their hometown of Washington DC, Bad Brains moved to New York City in 1981 and played gigs in the Alphabet City’s 171-A Studios where they ultimately ended-up recording this album. This is the new press for 2021 on Bad Brains Records, much the same as the previous ROIR version and still featuring the hype sticker quote from the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch: “The best punk/hardcore album of all time.” Is it weird or controversial to add that I think Bad Brains were a really great reggae band too?
