Description
Ameretat – Self-titled LP
Anarcho hardcore punk from a duo who areĀ of Iranian descent and whose Persian background is key to their own unique take on the style. Incorporating traditional folk instruments to achieve a truly exciting cross-cultural mash-up. Inspired by global punk from throughout the ages – with shout-outs to LSD, Rudimentary Peni, Union Of Uranus and Dystopia – and then stirring them into a febrile, highly combustible, mix (often, close in style to modern bands like, say, Rat Cage or Taqbir) with lyrics that deal with subjects of ‘war, power, love, despair, kindness, and our common humanity’ all screamed/shouted/sung in a combination of Persian, Avestan, Lori, Kurdish, and English. The punk counter-culture has always been a global movement, today more so than ever – that’s one of the great things about humanity: good ideas are contagious, they will inevitably spread. Shared and celebrated by all. One planet, one punk-people. Amen to that.
